Happy Hours in Gaithersburg

Review of Chevy's

MCR Rating:

A decent happy hour means that the bar probably does a couple things very well, but also lacks a few qualities. These are the places where you’ll find love-hate debates among different people. Read the review and decide whether it’s a place you want to give a shot.

Our Review

Chevy’s offers a great deal, basically $3 for anything. The appetizer ordered (fajita nachos) was quite large, and could easy serve as a meal for one (and for $3!). Only 2 beers on tap (Miller Lite and Yuengling), and the $3 buys you a pint. But even though the beer may not be a steal, the margaritas and appetizers are. Although the atmosphere was a bit lacking (barely audible music, bright lighting) and not too cozy, the speedy, helpful, and very polite service made up for it. It did not get busy until about 5:45, at which point most tables and stools were taken. The crowd was mixed with casual and after-work professional attire, and most people seemed to be in groups of 2-3. Honestly, I expected less from a cliché Mexican chain. But the good service and great deals left me pleasantly surprised.

The Run Down

If you’re looking for a spot to chat with friends/coworkers without spending much cash, or just want a buzz and a meal for under $20, this is a good bet. If you're looking for authentic atmosphere and opportunities for mingling, all bets are off.
