Happy Hours in Germantown

Review of Pelican Pete's

MCR Rating:

A happy hour with this rating is still a damn good happy hour, so don’t think you should only look at “Excellent.” It might have been deficient in few areas of our rating model, but these may be things some people don’t care about. So in some cases, a “Good” is no different than an “Excellent.”

Our Review

Pelican Pete’s is the kind of place that you would expect to find in a small town. Most notable are the happy hour prices: $1.50 drafts, $2.25 rail drinks, and appetizers (good size ones at that) under $5. The mix drinks are a decent size and strength, and although the appetizers are pretty standard bar fare (fried, fatty, and full of cheese), but the portions are still a deal. Even if the apps aren’t enticing for you, the regular menu has an array of seafood and pasta offerings at decent prices as well. Service there is quite quick and pretty friendly and easy to talk to. The very casual crowd was a bit small, with most people enjoying a few games of Keno or stopping in for some carryout. The atmosphere is very casual and pretty relaxing: classic rock piped from XM, soft lighting, and wood paneling with a dark drop ceiling give a real local feeling to this area surrounded by suburban sprawl.

The Run Down

Pelican Pete’s is a truly fresh catch if you like great deals and want a simple happy hour experience. If you’re searching for sophistication in style and cuisine, this place will leave you feeling beached.
