Happy Hours in Wheaton

Review of Stained Glass Pub

MCR Rating:

A decent happy hour means that the bar probably does a couple things very well, but also lacks a few qualities. These are the places where you’ll find love-hate debates among different people. Read the review and decide whether it’s a place you want to give a shot.

Our Review

Stained Glass Pub is popular among the local residents, with an eclectic mix of customers (jeans & flannel, suits and ties, young and old) in the pub area. Multiple TVs display a couple of channels, ranging from sports to news. It’s easy to relax and sink into the darker atmosphere generated by the dark wood fixtures and narrow passage. The old building does have a bit of dinginess to it, and the bathrooms are quite small and worn. Drink deals are hard to beat, and the food deals are pretty good as well (although they all are pretty simple and fattening). The bartender was speedy and vigilant, and made fairly generous pours for my mixed drinks. The pub is a no-frills, down-to-earth watering hole, with an interesting mix of ‘80s and ‘90s pop music.

The Run Down

Stained Glass Pub is a good choice if you enjoy simplicity in style and diversity in people. You may want to look elsewhere if you prefer modern and sophisticated atmospheres, or original and healthy food offerings.
